The Birthday Boy

Last Sunday it was Scott's birthday, so we spent the weekend celebrating by doing lots of his favourite things. One being horse racing, on Friday we travelled down to London to attend Champions Day at The Ascot Racecourse (apparently the most prestigious race day of the year!). I honestly wasn't expecting much but when we arrived I was kind of blown away by the scale of everything. It was almost like being in a huge arena! There was live music, a brass band, some amazing food in cute little vans and I even saw The Queen. Oh, and I won £40! Scott came up too, thank the lord, otherwise that would have been a long 4 hour drive home with a grumpy birthday boy! Then on Sunday he opened his presents in bed and I cooked us up some pancakes with lemon, sugar and Nutella (not together). Then in the afternoon we went for Sunday lunch at The Pipe and Glass Inn. It is the most gorgeous, warm welcoming, pub style restaurant. The food was incredible and the portion sizes were very generous! Scott had potted pork to start and I had the crab meat starter. Then we both had the Roast sirloin of beef for main. The only down side was that we were so full we couldn't fit desert in, so we took some salted caramel macaroons for take out. After a couple hours laze on the sofa watching Dexter, Scott's family came over with his presents and we ate my homemade blueberry and lemon curd loaf whilst watching the X factor. I then made Scott feel really old by telling him he'd now be in the over 25's category if he were to audition! The whole weekend was so lovely, it definitely made Monday at work a little more bearable, thinking of all the nice things we did (and ate). Here are some of the photo's we took over the weekend.
Love, Laura
